The Pixel Ink Gallery will be moving to a new space in Cuba Street. Wellington based emerging illustrative artist, Rachel Walker has been confirmed for the premier opening exhibition.
The new gallery space will officially open with Walker's debut solo show on the 24th of March.
The exhibition titled “The Jellyfish Crossroads”, named after one of the paintings, is a collection of works loosely exploring interesting animals, characters, and pattern.
In this series of new works Walker uses watercolour combined with sketchy linework and spraypainted stencils.
Rachel Walker was born in 1985, atop the hill of Napier. She graduated from Massey University Wellington with a Bachelor of Design, Illustration major, in 2008. Her works are often inspired by nature, humour, oddity and confusion; and usually depicted in watercolour, spraypaint, ink, and pencil.
Rachel has exhibited in various group shows including 'Animalia' and 'Nature, it Walks' at Pixel Ink gallery. The Jellyfish Crossroads is her first solo exhibition. Aside from personal painting, Rachel works as a freelance designer and on private commissions in Wellington, New Zealand.
The works will be on display until the 11th of April.
The revamped Pixel Ink fashion boutique and art gallery on Cuba Street will continue to stock great New Zealand made boutique fashion labels, alongside rotating art exhibition by local artists.
