Victoria University Press is pleased to invite you to a party to celebrate the launch of three new books of poems - 'The Victims of Lightning' by Bill Manhire, 'The Mirror of Simple Annihilated Souls' by Kate Camp and 'The Worm in the Tequila' by Geoff Cochrane - and the other VUP writers participating in Writers and Readers Week.

Bill Manhire's first new book since Lifted is a collection of finely crafted lyrics, found poems, and even a bracket of songs. 'The Victims of Lightning' is Bill Manhire at the height of his powers.

'The Worm in the Tequila', is a bracing and invigorating distillation of Geoff Cochrane's distinctive talent. "Geoff Cochrane's is a whole world, rendered in lines at once compressed and open, mysterious and approachable." Damien Wilkins.

When first printed, 'The Mirror of Simple Annihilated Souls' caused its author to be burnt at the stake for heresy in 1310. Kate Camp's fourth collection of poems demonstrates a darker turn in the work of this popular poet. Shortlisted for the Kathleen Grattan Poetry Award, it establishes her in the front rank of New Zealand poets.
