The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra (FBO), deemed one of the finest period ensembles in the world, makes its Australasian debut during Festival 2010. For over 20 years, the orchestra has performed internationally and cemented its reputation as sophisticated and inspiring interpreters of classical, romantic and even contemporary music.
The musicians are joined in New Zealand by multi-award-winning and eminent conductor René Jacobs, who achieved initial acclaim as a successful counter tenor. He now specialises in conducting early Classical opera and Baroque works.
Along with countless awards, the FBO most recently received two prestigious Edison Classical Music Awards, and continues to triumph in its collaborations with prestigious artists and guest conductors. This dynamic, virtuosic force promises to deliver a divine musical experience.
