Acoustic Cafe is monthly original music event that happens at Nourish Cafe in Ostend, Waiheke Island. The 3rd Friday of every month.
Our MC this week will be Bede Taylor, no stranger to Acoustic Cafe.
Mixing local Waihekean performers with guests from Auckland City. This week our local acts are Neal Ghoshal and Baz Caitcheon. From Auckland the young and very talented Eden Roberts as well Tim Walker, currently recording his debut EP.
• Eden Roberts - I’m Eden, and I have been playing guitar for three years. Recently I have started to write acoustic singer-songwriter music, and have really been enjoying myself. I am 15 years old and currently at Western Springs College, which is a great place for music, and bands to get together. I have been exploring different guitar styles through the help of my teacher, Nigel Gavin, such as jazz, flamenco, classical, rock, and folk. By playing and listening to many different types of music, writing original songs become much more inspiring, and I am looking forward to sharing these songs with you on Waiheke Island
• Neal Ghoshal - Neal has 25 years experience of playing guitar. Originally loving the music of Eric Clapton and Neil Young, Neal delved deeper into the blues and found inspiration from the likes of BB King, Buddy Guy and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Having played for years in the bars and clubs of London, he moved to Waiheke Island in 2002, and where he regularly plays with Aaron Carpenter as part of The Mojo Risers.
He is inspired these days by great songwriting and is fascinated by the song-writing process. In this gig, for the first time on Waiheke, Neal will be sharing some of his original songs - soulful, uplifting acoustic guitar ballads, intricate fingerpicking - a mix of blues, rock and contemporary folk.
• Tim Walker - Left juice tv as a presenter to pursue my music as a singer songwriter. The last gig I played I supported Jan Hellriegel at the Civic before the end of last year for her album release and am currently working on my EP and looking to release my first single in the next few months!
• Baz Caitcheon - plays in Irish pubs in the city on Mondays and Thursdays and often does more of the same in weekends. Has played for 30 odd years, in NZ the UK, Japan, Cyprus, Australia. Hasn't put much focus on original music for years, so looking forward to squeaking out some of his own missives.
