Award-winning weaver and author of 'How to Make a Piupiu’, Leilani Rickard will be weaving live on site on the Taheke Gallery in the City daily until Sunday, April 18.
Her traditionally crafted, beautifully finished piupiu will be displayed and for sale along with large wood carvings and masks by husband James Rickard, glass and wood sculptural pieces Leilani’s famed carver, sculptor and designer brother Lyonel Grant and traditional Maori raupo and toi toi kites by grand-daughter Anastasia Rickard.
Some of Leilani's cutting-edge contemporary pieces designed and made for New Zealand Fashion Week, Wellington’s international Wearable Arts and Rotorua Wearable Creations ‘n’ Colour Awards will also be exhibited.
