Grapes are back from Convoy Brand, these are grown in Otahuhu under glass, utilising the very special espalier method. Robert, Ivy and Andrew use V shape training to allow lots of light on to the fruit; this requires the use of stilts to remove tops of the plants.

Community stall – two communities are with us this week Red Puppy appeal with guide dogs at the market. Hosting a talk on the dogs and their work.

Plus

Parnell Newmarket Plunket Appeal – part of the annual national Plunket appeal but with proceeds from the day going to an upgrade of the local play group rooms at 192 Parnell Road.

Music – this week we have 17 year old Eddie Giffney. Eddie is the current NZ Open Solo Piano Accordion champion and last year he won 3rd place in the Junior Virtuoso section of the Accordion World championships. He enhances our market ambience with an entertaining selection of accordion pieces from many musical genres.

Bring a friend and hurry along to the market early for the pick of seasonal produce then relax with coffee, hot breakfast food or baked delights, in the ambient surroundings next to the Domain. The market is in the car park behind the brick Jubilee Building, home to the Parnell Library and Parnell Trust.

Free parking for 90 cars during market hours at 47 George Street – these are graciously supplied by our neighbour AECOM, across the street from the George Street market entrance.

Parnell Trust has been working in a community development role since 1982, seeking to create and strengthen social links through shared cultural, recreational and educational activities. As a result we offer a diverse and interesting portfolio of programmes and services.
