Parkinson's Hawke's Bay Charity Cricket Match

Parkinson’s Hawke’s Bay are staging an entertaining evening of action packed cricket on the 2nd of March as the Law Maker’s XII take on the Lawyers XII at the Kelt Capital Hockey Stadium, Park Island.

The game is a fast paced 24 overs per team with all players batting and bowling to take out the match and win the “The Embers”.

The Law Maker's Team headed by our local MPs, Craig Foss, and Chris Tremain and is supported by a team of celebrity players, including Taine Randell and Brandon Pongia.

The Lawyers' Invitation Team will be headed by Iain Taylor of Gifford Devine and is made up of Hawke’s Bay’s leading legal brains all looking forward to toppling the celebrity team.

The event has been planned to be a fantastic family night out with trans-Tasman sporting personalities turning out to raise funds for Parkinson’s and Jordan Luck, the patron of Parkinson’s New Zealand, providing half time entertainment.

While the event is entertaining, Parkinson’s disease is not. A progressive neurological condition, Parkinson’s affects movements such as walking, talking and writing. Although commonly viewed as “an older person’s disease” recent statistics indicate 10% of all Parkinson’s sufferer’s are under the age of 40. The disease is managed through medication and assisted through moderate exercise – there is not cure.

All funding from the event will assist Parkinson’s Hawke’s Bay provide valuable community services such as the services of the Field Officer (a qualified nurse) who provides practical, individual assistance, advice and support to sufferer’s of the disease in the region.

Members the Black Caps teams will be at the match to meet young fans prior to start of the PowerPlay.
