Excursion 7: Heritage Train, Classic Planes, ‘River of the Gods -Te Awa Atua’ , Picnic Excursion Ride the Bay of Plenty Steamer out of the city, through the countryside, past the orchards and burst onto the white sands and blue waters of the Pacific Coast on your way to Matata. Enjoy your picnic at the newly developed Te Awa Atua lagoon-by-the-sea at Matata. A magnificent day for everyone. Depart Cnr Maunganui and Hull Rd at 10:00am. The train heads south past Te Puke with brief stop at Kiwi 360 for drive by engine photo opportunities. Join the coastline at Otamarakau. Passengers disembark the train at Matata for a unique picnic experience -12noon till 2:30pm. Classic Flyers aircraft displays, M.A.S.H chopper rides, classic cars, motorbikes, arts/crafts and MORE.....
Depart Matata at 2:35pm for return steam train journey arriving at Hull Rd at 5:00pm. Light refreshments tea, coffee, soft drinks and snack food are available on the train for purchase or you can bring your own. Food and beverages also available at Matata.
