This exhibition details New Zealand butterfly species, their distribution and food sources. The idea of the exhibition is to encourage people to be more aware of the small NZ species and the habitats they enjoy.
For example the Red and Yellow Admiral both rely on nettles as the major food source for their caterpillars and yet most of us will pull out a nettle if we find one in the garden.
Included in the exhibition are pictures of typical environments with superimposed butterfly pictures along with models of some butterflies and a caterpillar.
This exhibition will run concurrently with our main one of Piki ki runga.
