Manukau Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Uwe Grodd, presents two tantalizing concerts opening with a commissioned work by Auckland composer David Hamilton – the world premiere of Flight, a sparkling short overture for orchestra.
Programme:
Hamilton (NZ) - Flight, world premiere
Rota - Piano Concerto in E minor ‘Piccolo mondo antico’
Beethoven - Symphony No.5
The Orchestra is delighted to welcome back Viennese pianist Christopher Hinterhuber to perform Piano Concerto in E minor ‘Piccolo mondo antico’, reminiscent of romantic Hollywood film scores, by Italian composer Nino Rota.
Ludwig van Beethoven’s FIFTH has been nicknamed the ‘Symphony of Fate’ because of its awe-inspiring opening. This monumental symphony, full of humanity, traverses all emotions and orchestral colours.
Experience the power and beauty of this magnificent work conducted by Manukau Symphony Orchestra’s Music Director Uwe Grodd.
