Have your say: Waikato Anniversary Day.
Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, Otago and nine other regions in New Zealand have an anniversary day, so what about the Waikato?
A public discussion will be held at the University of Waikato on March 8 to discuss what Waikato residents think about having their own anniversary day.
National MP for Taupo Louise Upston will co-host the public discussion with Hamilton Mayor Bob Simcock. They will share the stage with Waikato Times acting Editor Roy Pilott, University of Waikato Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Doug Sutton, and historian Professor Giselle Byrnes. Prof Byrnes will provide an overview of Waikato's key dates in history.
The results from the discussion will then be put forward at the next mayors' forum, as any decision will be made at local government level.
Everyone is welcome to join in the discussion held at the University Of Waikato Academy Of Performing Arts Concert Chamber, on Monday 8 March at 6.30pm.
A cash bar will be open from 5.30.
