To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of their classic 1989 album, Doolittle, Pixies - Black Francis, Kim Deal, Joey Santiago and David Lovering - have embarked on a very special tour – “The Doolittle Tour” – which arrives in New Zealand in March 2010.

With a sold-out Vector Arena concert on Friday, March 12 Pixies have announced a ‘bonus’ show at Auckland’s Powerstation, Thursday, March 11 – a chance for fans to get up close and personal with this legendary band.

For the Doolittle Tour, Pixies will perform all of the songs from Doolittle and its related B-sides. Pixies' classics such as "Debaser," "Wave of Mutilation," "Here Comes Your Man," "Hey," and "Gouge Away" are all on Doolittle's track listing.

"We wanted to do something special for Doolittle's 20th anniversary," Black Francis said, "and we thought this was a good opportunity to play all of the songs from that album, something we don't normally do at a regular gig."

This will be the first New Zealand visit by Pixies, and follows on from sell-out 2009 European and US tours showcasing Doolittle.

I agree with disgruntled Sbastian, but even though I've already got tickets to the Vector show, I will be goign to this. In fact, I'd rather have my toenails ripped out with a blunt jandal before I miss this...

I'm sure for real Pixies fans who bought their tickets the second they went on sale would be highly disappointed in this, as I am!!! Why are those who are the late comers getting rewarded with such a better opportunity to see the band????

I guarantee that 90% of the people going to this will be the real fans who have already bought tickets and now have to fork out more money!!!!

There should at least be an opportunity to trade the Vector ticket for one of these instead??
