It's Gala time again at Whangaparaoa Primary. Parents, teachers and children are busy preparing for a popular day out for all the family and warmly welcome the whole community to attend to support our growing school community.

The Gala will be held rain or shine, in the school grounds, 39 Ladies Mile, Manly on Sunday 28th March from 10am to 2pm. We've had it on good authority the weather will be fine that day!

So come and check out the toys, books, activities, sweet treats, buy a cake or decorate a cookie, jazz yourself up at Glitz & Glam with tattoos and nail art, haircuts for just $10, make your own jewellery, have your hair beaded or choose a wacky hairstyle, check out a nearly new outfit from used clothing and jostle your way through the 2nd hand maze of white elephant jumble sale in the school hall.

The addition of a new school building offers a shady area to sit outside the Whale Bay Café offering hot and cold drinks, Devonshire Tea, BBQ, Bacon & Eggs, Pork Spit, Hotdogs, Slushies, African Curry & Rice, pies, waffles, ice-cream, ice-blocks, candyfloss or make your own pizza and lick your way through those toffee apples - all washed down with a good ole Quick Fire Wheel to spin and win on.

The Fire Brigade will be setting the gala alight with their displays and make sure you cheer on your favourite team as the Fire Crew and Leisure Centre battle it out on the rope with a Tug O War.

We have a great selection of stalls for adults to meander through while the kids enjoy a large selection of games and physical challenges including unreleased to schools Nerf target challenges, hole in 1 golf, coconut shy, soccer target & slimy lucky dip, tombolas, toy & hoop tossing, pre-school area, Mission Impossible course and for those thrill seekers, the highest slide in NZ 'The Edge', mini jeeps and pony & cart rides. Lots of donated goodies means lots of prizes to be had. And be sure to watch the Principal being dunked at 12.30pm.

After weeks of auditions, the grand finale of WHANGA IDOL will be on stage at 1pm. Our very special judging panel will make the final decision with some great prizes from Whangaparaoa Recording Studio to be won. Check out Whanga Idol Blog for more Info.

Ex teacher, Janine Maxwell, will be returning to our Gala to MC the entertaining lineup promised on stage, with lots of children participating including the school's own Kapa Haka group & choirs mingled with hiphop dancing and some special guest College bands. Watch out for a wondering possum from Australia, Mr Bean and Cookie Bear with buskers entertaining the crowds.

The money raised at this year's Gala will go towards IT in classrooms and a replacement entrance sign. If schools are to offer what this new generation of children needs, then community fundraising is essential, and what better way to do it than hold a good old fashioned School Gala.

    Hi there,

Just thought I would drop you a line regarding entertainers for your gala.

Purple Productions has a huge array of wonderful entertainment, including our fabulous Pirate Show, a very interactive storyteller that your tamariki will adore, as well as face painters, stilt walkers, clowns, balloon twisters and of course our roving animal characters! With over 400 performers on our books, we are certain to have what ever your event requires!

I look forward to hearing from you soon,
