Eckehard Stier - Conductor

Haydn: Symphony No.45 (“Farewell Symphony”)
Shostakovich: Symphony No.8

Born of the crucible of war, Shostakovich’s Symphony No.8 is a shattering and ultimately uplifting experience. Eckehard Stier made his reputation with the symphonies of Shostakovich, and Auckland audiences now have the chance to experience the power and poignance of his interpretation. This concert begins with Haydn’s elegant and wistful Farewell Symphony, which fades away as the musicians leave the stage one by one.

$30 for 30s: For our 30th anniversary year, the APO is offering $30 rush tickets to anyone in their 30s.

Tickets can be booked the week of a concert from THE EDGE box office, online at www.the-edge.co.nz or by phoning 0800 buy tickets (subject to availability and booking fee, proof of age will be required).
