Communiqué is an annual lecture series, hosted by the School of Architecture and Planning in the National Institute of Creative Arts and Industries at The University of Auckland.
The programme for each Communiqué series centres on issues relevant to architecture and planning, but intentionally seeks to present an expansive view on these subjects. Architecture and planning are spatial arts and as such, speakers are drawn from a wide range of disciplines, industries and practices that engage with spatial issues. T
he intention is that through presenting a diverse view of spatial concerns, new areas of discussion and debate will emerge for architecture and planning. The multifarious audience that Communiqué attracts contributes to this opening up of the subjects.
A particular focus of Communiqué is to highlight the work of young practices and academics, alongside those that are established and more senior. Communiqué speakers are school staff and senior research students, as well as visiting industry professionals and academics from New Zealand and around the world. In the 2010 Autumn series, half of the speakers are from abroad, and topics range from the global to the local.
The lectures are free and open to the public.
