Pese Muamua means ‘song number one’. The choir will call ‘mua mua mua’— let's begin, let's begin, let's begin — the words which are used in traditional Samoan singing to introduce a set of songs. This symbolises the beginning of all the ‘songs’ Auckland Choral will sing in 2010. A wonderful, varied one-hour free concert follows with excerpts from Brahms's Requiem, Bach's B minor Mass and even a Sing Along ‘Hallelujah’ from the Messiah. Concert highlights include Dean Sky Lucas, Australia's finest counter tenor, David Hamilton's Dance Song to the Creator and Bach’s sparkling Brandenburg Concerto No. 4.
For more information about the concert contact the Auckland Choral Administration Manager, Ruth Farrant (phone (09) 358 2892 or email ruth@aucklandchoral.com).
