Excavation - An Exhibition of Geometric and Figurative Stratigraphy

Artist David H Brown, working within the Geometric and Figurative painting traditions, launches his first solo exhibition, Excavation.

David completed his Master of Arts with Honours in Anthropology at the University of Auckland and worked for six years as a professional Archaeologist throughout Europe before following his passion for painting and becoming a full time artist in 2006.

In Excavation, he juxtaposes intricately balanced geometric paintings with statically tense expressionistic figures.

Brown’s paintings can not only be viewed within their separate traditions, but also as a single body of work, where the viewer is invited by the emotional pull of the paintings, to consider the convergence of his visual language.
