This years Orca K1 is a challenging course with the 4 of the 7 K2 category hills included in the race.
The Orca K1 starts in Tairua with Pumpkin Hill followed by rolling countryside into Whitianga. The 2nd stage is probably the toughest stage on the course with three major hills including the Whangapoua hill to finish with.
There are two races
1. The Elite Womens Orca K1 - starts at 11.45am
2. The Main Orca K1 - staggered starts from 12.00pm
Total Distance 86 km
The Orca K1 is a reasonably tough course. We would recommend that you get some training in on the course. We would also recommend that you check out the training programme on this website.
The event is open to individuals and tandem riders
The race is limited to riders of 14 and over.
