The 2009 Sydney Blues Society performer of the year Ali Penney and Sydney based Dean Haitani will be heading the line up for the annual Bluesfest in Rotorua on Queen’s birthday weekend. As in previous years, the event is timed to coincide with the Targa car rally.
The four day event will include:
• The 'Hot Club' concert at Novotel Rotorua - Tickets $30 from Ticketmaster
• Blues Cruise on the Lakeland Queen - Tickets $29 from lakelandqueen.com
• Youth guitar workshop and competition
• Targa Streat Party during the Show n Shine - free
• Downtown carnival with bands performing in venues across the CBD - free
A number of cafes and restaurants on and around ‘Eat Street’ and the CBD will be host to a variety of Blues acts for people to enjoy throughout the four days, with styles ranging from traditional Chicago South-side and Mississippi right through to the electric - and eclectic - modern day blues.
Entry to these venues is free.
