Ki O Rahi tournament showcases Maori games to the community.
Ki-o-rahi is a fast paced and fun game, played with two teams on a circular playing field. Played extensively by Māori before the arrival of the Europeans, Ki-o-rahi is now making a comeback in New Zealand and around the world.
The games start with a brief presentation about the origins and the whakapapa of Ki-o-rahi, followed by an explanation of the rules. Participants are then divided into teams and proceed to play the game, starting off slowly until everyone feels confident. At the end of game there will be some small prizes.
