Mirika

Mirika's diversity in her music is as varied as her adventurous lifestyle. She was named Quebec's 2002 Songwriter of the Year and proudly represented Quebec at the Canadian National Songwriters competition. But her loyalties have never rested with one particular city, province or style.

In both her approach to life and to her approach to music, she is as versatile as she is outspoken. After garnering attention for her intimate performances, hallowing vocals, and satirical lyrics, Mirika realized that the traditional music industry leaves very little room for artist development (or for diversity within one artists repertoire).

She feels great admiration for artists like Beck, who's carrier boasts versatility in genres while maintaining his artistic integrity. Where she had once found frustration with her "salesgirl by day and songstress by night" life-style, she quickly understood that it was her ticket to creating a body of work that she could be proud of. Following her success in Montreal, Mirika moved to Vancouver to pursue social change as a provincial educator/advocate for foster care in British Columbia.
