Be bewitched by this dark and contemporary retelling of Hansel and Gretel for adults.... Storyteller/artist Kristin Herman and musician/composer Peter Willis have collaborated to create this Grimm-ly subversive performance.
Visual art, storytelling, theatre, beat poetry and music (piano, song, sound objects) are combined to form a hypnotic rite of passage. A surreal and dangerous forest becomes the setting of a journey into the psyche. In true Jungian tradition, the story is woven in dream-like imagery.
Undergrowth was written and designed by Kristin Herman and composed by Peter Willis
“Enchanting- in the true sense of the word.” Warwick Broadhead
”Intriguing....like a living art installation” Ewen Coleman, Dominion Post
“Undergrowth is a totally inspiring piece of theatre, and was easily the most interesting and excitingly imaginative show I’d seen all year” Claire Scholes, mezzo soprano and composer
