Opshop is getting back into the swing of things with a three date tour planned for end of June
Capitalising on the instant success of the first single Pins & Needles, and an appetite suitably whetted after playing 10 Gigs in a day to kick off NZ Music Month, Opshop will play three shows in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch in June.
While Opshop will be playing the songs that have helped to establish them as one of NZ’s premier rock acts, the Opshop set will include the new single Pins & Needles, which after almost a month in the charts seems destined to become another Opshop standard.
Says front-man Jason Kerrison, “We’re all really looking forward to hitting the main centres next month, we love the energy we get from the fans and we just want to get amongst it and go hard”.
Opshop plays Auckland’s Powerstation on Thursday 24 June, Wellington’s Bodega on Friday 25 June and their home turf, the garden city Christchurch at The Bedford on Saturday 26 June. All shows are GA, licensed and R18.
OPSHOP’s Pins & Needles Tour will be supported by The Earlybirds in Auckland & Wellington and Dukes in Christchurch.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday 31 May. Full date and venue details can be found at www.opshopmusic.com and www.ticketmaster.co.nz
Opshop’s third studio album, Until the End of Time is due for release on August 2).
The Earlybirds (Auckland & Wellington): It has been a busy summer for The Earlybirds recording their debut album Favourite Fears due out in August. The release of their third single I Can’t Live Without You has gained instant airplay, currently the #1 music video on C4.
Dukes: Christchurch’s five piece rock band Dukes have gone from winning MTV’s Kickstart competition to supporting Gomez and INXS on their NZ dates. They toured as support to Dave Dobbyn, Gin Wigmore, Midnight Youth, Th’Dudes and The Checks. There was no escaping the song Vampires by Dukes – it received airplay and video rotations for an incredible 11 months, delivering a Top 10 single and Gold sales. Dukes’ new album will be released in October.
