Red, White & Black Dinner and Auction

Baseball New Zealand presents "Red, White and Black", a dinner and auction at SKYCITY’s Auckland Convention Centre on 18 June, 2010 to benefit the Under-17 National Baseball Team.

Proceeds will assist twenty-six (26) of the nation’s best young baseball players who are at a crucial moment in their baseball careers and who will be travelling to Seattle, Washington, in early July to play against some of America’s best ballplayers from the ‘Great Northwest.’

This is a special moment in Baseball New Zealand’s history, with a large team and development squad travelling to Washington State that will include the nation’s best baseball players along with some of our leading young softball players. The boys will take part in America’s Independence Day celebrations while playing ‘America’s Game,’ and we fully expect this trip and the tournaments and games the team plays in to be a showcase for how quickly the sport is moving across New Zealand and for each of our players to be spotted and tracked by collegiate and professional scouts.

The event, which we’ve called our ‘Red, White & Black’ dinner and auction, also represents the blossoming of Baseball New Zealand’s relationship with SKY City, one of the premier venues for such events in Auckland and the nation.

The price per ticket is $90 and this will include a three-course meal:
Entree - Akaroa salmon on saffron potato salad & snow pea greens
Main - Herb crusted eye fillet on rosti potato with shallots, wild mushrooms & sauce bearnaise
Dessert - Raspberry & chocolate bavaroise on flourless chocolate cake with glass biscuit frill and strawberry compote

Also, everyone will be greeted with a glass of bubbly upon arrival and then it will be a cash bar after the first welcome drink.

There will be a silent and live auction with great items up for grabs.

The evening will start at 6 pm with a cocktail hour and silent auction, and the dinner will immediately follow at 7 pm.

Our young men and others will be working the event, and we’ll have several guest speakers during the course of the evening.
