The Blackbird Ensemble present a concert of music by Estonian Composer Arvo Part (b.1935- ).
Part's music is famous for it's ethereal mesmeric quality, and helped lead the late twentieth century 'Holy minimalist' composition movement. His work evokes a sense of purity and the divine, influenced by Gregorian chant and characterised by the slow fall and rise of melodic lines.
The concert includes his rarely performed magnificent work 'Tabula Rasa' for two solo violins and string orchestra with prepared piano, amongst his shorter famous works 'Fratres' and 'Spiegel im Spiegel.' Prepare to be enlightened by this night of thoroughly exquisite music.
The Blackbird Ensemble are joined by contemporary dancer Annabel Harrison. Following the concert will be a set of originals by Andrew Keoghan and band.
