The Big Shwop

New Zealand’s most popular eco-fashion event, The Big Shwop, is returning to Wellington this winter, and has a bundle of exciting new surprises under its belt.

For the first time The Big Shwop will be open to men, with a dedicated shwopping area for The 'He Shwop'.

The first floor gallery of St. James Theatre on Courtenay Place will be transformed into an eco-shopping extravaganza, where hundreds of fashionable Wellingtonians can swap up to twenty of their barely worn quality clothes from their wardrobes for fabulous new ones.

The Big Shwop is now much more than just about fantastic clothes, it has an amazing energy and atmosphere, and is a day out in Wellington not to be missed! It combines great clothes, fantastic wine, live music and eco goodies from top local brands into one fantastic afternoon of fashion and fun.

The event is proudly supported by some of the countries finest eco friendly brands - shwoppers will be treated with complimentary goodies from MOMO Wine, Trilogy Skincare and ecostore.

MOMO is the official wine of the Big Shwop: it selects sustainably and organically grown grapes from a dedicated grower and embraces traditional winemaking. All shwoppers can enjoy complimentary 2009 organic Sauvignon Blanc from this fantastic winery.

Trilogy skincare, are also providing all shwoppers with gifts from their great natural skincare range. All ladies at The Big Shwop will receive a full size Trilogy Everything Balm, which is a magical multi-tasking, 100% natural and sustainably sourced moisturiser. All the shwopping lads will receive a Trilogy Aftershave Balm from the Natural Actives for Men range. Every shwopper will also get the chance to be part of the exclusive Big Shwop Trilogy cleanser ‘trade-in’ offer – where shwoppers can trade their old cleanser and upgrade on the day for a beautiful new Trilogy one!

Ecostore will keep shwoppers clean and green with complimentary ecostore soap and a tester sized ecostore laundry powder. Also new to the event are featured speakers who will provide words of sustainable wisdom during the break while the Shwop shop is being assembled. Corinne Morley, New Zealand Sales Manager of Trilogy Skincare and Gosia Piatek - owner of Fair-trade clothing label Kowtow will share their insight and experience of creating sustainable products and using green business practices.

Live music for the Shwop will be provided by local husband and wife DJ duo - Misteek & Tigga.
