Acoustic Routes

The July Acoustic Routes concert at the Ruby Lounge features Bob Cooper Grundy, one of the region's hottest country blues and alt-country exponents.

Bob is a long-established figure on the Wellington music scene. He's based in the Wairarapa these days, but has also lived and played in the US. He is known for his southern-style guitar picking and finely crafted original songs and covers, often with wry observations on life.

Bob usually shares the stage with a fine selection of guitars and a mandolin, and with side-kicks from the likes of the B Side band and Grits 'n' Gumbo, with whom he regularly performs.

Also appearing as support at the Sunday night concert are Don Franks and Philippa Boy and Peter Denee.

Don has a wide-ranging musical pedigree as a pianist, guitarist and banjo player. He's also known for his parodies and original songs highlighting social injustice and political stupidity.

Philippa and Peter have a repertoire that draws on traditional and early music sources, often played on dulcimers and hurdy-gurdies.
