On Sunday 11 July the Waikanae Music Society will host a piano recital by John-Paul Muir, winner of the recent 2010 Kerikeri National Piano Competition. Past winners of this prestigious competition have included some of New Zealand's finest pianists and John-Paul is well on the way to continuing this tradition.
John-Paul won the competition from a pool of 18 competitors from around the world. He holds a Masters Degree in Music from Auckland University and has previously won the National Concerto Competition and the Young Musician of the Year award and has already performed in UK and US as well as touring for Chamber Music New Zealand. His programme for Waikanae will include works by Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and Debussy.
