Taupō Museum is proud to present the excellence of Ngāti Tūwharetoa’s unique visual culture, artists and their work during Matariki (Maori New Year). Visit the Museum to celebrate the cultural heritage and identity of Ngāti Tūwharetoa. This vibrant exhibition will bring together a cluster of emerging talent as well as local and established artists living beyond the area to share their visually poetic and innovative visual voice through an exciting range of contempary and customary media.

Please join Albert McCarthy, Margaret Downes, Bernice Williams, Eleazar Manutai Bramley, Kingi Pitiroi, Henriata Nicholas, Natalie Couch, Vanessa Edwards, Delani Brown, Debbie Thyne, Russell Wilson, Paratuiri Simeon, Peta Ham, Corinna Heke-Mayes, Belinda Southern and Lititia Rahui at this very special time to reflect and celebrate part of our dynamic cultural heritage and identity.

Carving demonstration 10am-Noon Saturday 3rd July
Tuwharetoa carver Delani Brown will demonstrate his carving skills and discuss the themes behind his work.

Floor talk 12 Noon Wednesday 21 July
Professional guide and chef Tom Laughlin shares his knowledge of historical Maori food culture and the methods used in pre-European times.
