Rotorua collector John Danks has been fascinated with radios since he was a boy. ‘To me it was magic to be able to bring music and transmissions from all over the world into your own home’.

Over the years he has accumulated a huge archive, with a particular passion for radios made by a small manufacturer, F J Mountjoy of Auckland – hence the name for his display. Pearlescent dials, tombstone shapes, even a radio in the shape of a robot – these and many more will go on show to re-capture the golden years of radio.

Entry to the exhibition is included with general admission to the museum. Adult $12, Child $5.50, Family (1 adult & 3 children) $16, Family (2 adults & 3 children) $28.
