In Artstation’s latest exhibition, Desire Lines, opening 21 July 2010, artists respond to
the urban planning term “desire lines”.

The term “desire lines” refers to the lines, tracks or pathways people take in public spaces that might challenge official routes.

Artists contributing to the exhibition believe that artworks also happen in unplanned and unexpected ways.

“Arguably an artwork is, or at least can be such a trace or a path. It develops and reveals a preferred or chanced upon navigation of materials, space and ideas, and accommodates subjectivity, spontaneity, intuition, process and expression,“ says exhibition organiser and artist Zoë Nash.

“Ideas take form in ways that don't always follow the intended route. Materials misbehave, intentions go awry, surprises happen and plans change,” says artist Susie Crow.

This multi-disciplinary group exhibition curated by Jill Segedin includes sculpture, paintings, photography and video.

Artists include: Marion Bawdon, Angela Carter, Susie Crow, Amanda Levey with Rachel Grimwood, Zoë Nash, Becky Nunes, Lynnemaree Patterson, and Caroline Powley.
