A not-to-be-missed evening of glorious, thrilling, soothing and thunderous music, performed on what Mozart called the ‘King of Instruments’.
Be prepared to feel the foundations of the Nelson School of Music shake as Kemp English gives the magnificent 3-manual organ the treatment he has made famous with the Stormin’ Norma CDs – recorded on the mighty Dunedin Town Hall organ, nicknamed ‘Norma’.
Classically trained at the Royal Academy of Music in London, English is on a mission to convince audiences that organ concerts can be ‘enjoyable and fun’. Expect to hear the full range, from Bach’s dramatic Toccata and Fugue to Lefebure Wely’s fairground-like Sortie.
Presented as a part of the Nelson Winter Music Festival.
