Nairobi Trio - live in the Tom McDonald Cellar, Church Road Winery.

New Zealand’s iconic Jazz Entertainers, the Nairobi Trio, mark their 21st year together with an extensive New Zealand tour in June/July before heading to Hong Kong, UK and Europe in August, performing for their 10th time at the Sildajazz Festival in Norway.

In the style of Quintette of the Hot Club of France, the influences of Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt are evident in their versions of well known jazz standards. They have performed for such dignitaries as Prince Philip, the King of Tonga, countless New Zealand Prime ministers, and have been the entertainers of choice at many All Blacks functions. They tour New Zealand regularly and are favourites at International Jazz Festivals and major corporate events.

Their show features material spanning the group's career to date from their eight CDs - a mixture of skillfully crafted original pieces and Jazz favourites, featuring the distinctive sound and delivery which is the hallmark of the Nairobi Trio.

Double bass, fiddle and guitar blend and weave to create the Trio's own brand of very accessible jazz. Be prepared to be drawn into their world, to be carried away by a performance as faultless as you'd expect from such experienced talents.

"This is a group of exciting performers who are talented musicians and entertainers and it is easy to see why they have impressed audiences around the world. Always playing to the crowd, Nairobi Trio has a winning formula and had the crowd hooked from the start"
– Simon Sweetman, The Dominion

“These musicians from New Zealand play with a passion and flair that international audiences adore”.
– Stephane Grappelli
