Beethoven: Symphony No.9 (“Choral Symphony”)
Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 broke all boundaries when it was written by introducing singers into an orchestral work. Now it is one of the most-famous pieces of symphonic music in the world. The APO joins Auckland Choral and a hand-picked group of soloists to bring this great work to Auckland for the first time in more than five years. The programme also features Schoenberg’s deeply moving A Survivor from Warsaw, which like Beethoven’s symphony is a tribute to the human spirit.
$30 for 30s: For our 30th anniversary year, the APO is offering $30 rush tickets to anyone in their 30s. Tickets can be booked the week of a concert from THE EDGE box office, online at www.the-edge.co.nz or by phoning 0800 buy tickets (subject to availability and booking fee, proof of age will be required).
