To celebrate National Poetry Day join us for readings by Michele Leggott, Selina Tusitala Marsh, Paula Green, Kelly Malone and the young poets of A Million Poems for Matariki, with special guests Robert Sullivan (Ngapuhi/Irish) and Cilla McQueen, Poet Laureate of New Zealand.

A Million Poems for Matariki is a collaborative project between the University of Auckland, community leaders and the Michael King Writers' Centre in Devonport to encourage creative writing and help develop communities. Students from primary, intermediate and secondary schools across Auckland were challenged to write a million poems for Matariki.

Selina Tusitala Marsh, who worked with schools in Otahuhu for this project, has just won the NZSA Jessie Mackay Award for the Best First Book of Poetry with her collection Fast Talking PI, published by Auckland University Press.
