In early January, climb aboard JOIDES Resolution, for a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a scientific research ship in action!
You could be part of a seven day programme with expert scientists from GNS Science, which includes a tour of the ship itself.
The JOIDES Resolution is a specially designed ship that undertakes drilling of the ocean floor while floating up to 6km above...very tricky! Scientists can use rock samples from the seafloor to look back in time and discover what the earth was like millions of years ago. One discovery by the ship showed that 55 million years ago the Arctic Ocean had a sub tropical climate!
If you are a budding scientist, oceanographer or environmentalist this is a great opportunity to explore a unique science ship, work in a GNS laboratory and make your own discoveries about the Earth's history.
Booking: Numbers are strictly limited so book now to avoid disappointment! Please note that bookings close 24 December.
If you have any questions after this date please contact Dr. Richard Levy nzodp@gns.cri.nz 027 270 1756
