Architect Bill Toomath: Liberating Everyday Life
29 January - 14 March 2010

Without the impact of Wellington architect Bill Toomath, the city would be a very different place. Defining himself as a 'fundamental Modernist', Bill Toomath has been a pioneer of modernist architecture in New Zealand, and has left a strong signature on Wellington.

This exhibition celebrates his 60 year career through three key projects – his 1949 plans for a waterfront National Museum of Art, the house he designed for his parents in 1950, and his recent creation, the study he built onto his Roseneath house following an exact design from a 15th century painting by Antonello, St Jerome in his Study.
