New Zealand’s well-loved entertainers, Jools and Lynda Topp, had a lot to celebrate this year. As well as a theatrical release of their first feature film, the Topps are celebrating 25 years in show business, and a double half-century as twin sisters.
To celebrate One Hundred Years of the Topp Twins, our “untouchable girls” will tour a brand-new vineyard show based on their life-story around New Zealand early next year and will be supported by ex-Muttonbird frontman Don McGlashan.
The stage show promises to be a very funny and clever telling of the twins’ metamorphosis from dairy farmers’ daughters to national comedians, and will involve many of the twins characters New Zealanders have come to love over the years as well as multi-media and the twins’ trademark style of audience participation. It has often been said that if you wrote down the Topp Twins story no one would believe it.
From humble beginnings growing up on a farm in Ruawaro, the twins trajectory journey to become national heros and international performers via the Army, busking and active politic protesting, has been an impressive and very unique story. They are now certainly “a comedy act to treasure “ (The Times, London). Lynda and Jools are excited they have a new lease on life after Jools’ brush with breast cancer, and can now celebrate 100 years of laughter, tears and triumph being the world's only comedic, singing, dancing, cross-dressing, lesbian yodeling twin sisters with a penchant for gingham skirts and pink toweling pantsuits.
This is the show to topp all others! So don’t miss out on an irreverent hilarious romp through different eras of New Zealand fashion, politics and music with the world's only comedic, singing, dancing, cross-dressing, yodeling twin sisters with a penchant for gingham skirts and pink toweling pantsuits. Be sure to book early.
