Acoustic Cafe is a regular original music night that happens at Nourish Cafe on Waiheke Island. Third Friday of every month. This first one of the New Year marks a turning point with a commitment to bringing artists from the mainland over to the rock to intermingle our musical genes.

First up Sarah-Jane with her band. Well known for her jazz, blues and soul material Sarah-Jane will perform a set of her originals to start the night off. With Sarah-Jane playing more in Auckland central these days we look forward to a set for her fellow Waihekeans.

Next up is Ivy Rossiter. Very happy that Ivy said yes when I asked her if she'd like to come over and play Acoustic Cafe. I saw Ivy play at a show I was involved with at the Dogs Bollix with Nikki Ngatai and we liked her a lot. Electric guitar, loop pedal, imagination and noise. Bring it on. Here's what Ivy has to say about her sound
"Ivy Rossiter's music moves from saccharine country pop to edgy distorted looping in a few easy steps. Describing herself as a musician mashed into a loop pedal, she combines influences ranging from Feist and PJ Harvey, to Wilco and Mazzy Star. Ivy has been performing in and around Auckland for the last couple of years, with her EP "Little Isles" being released at the end of 2008 with help from the Little Isles Band (Jonathan Burgess and Tom Broome). There are plans afoot for new recordings featuring her newer, solo sound. You can find her at www.ivyrossiter.com."

Last up will be Harry Nicklin. Prolific writer and musician Harry performed Acoustic Cafe last year as Rattleshack alongside mandolin player, Andy Lewis. This time he'll have his full band and will be following Ivy to bring the night home. Looking forward to this set.

Last month was the biggest yet. The bigger it gets the better it is. Bring it on!
