The 2010 Rayglass New Zealand Offshore Powerboat Championship roars into life with its traditional opening round on Lake Taupo. Strong numbers of entries in all classes guarantees exciting on-the-water action.

See New Zealand’s best powerboat racing teams battle for the 100-mile or 60-mile championship titles. With the Superboats achieving speeds of up to 136 mph, or 216 km/h, and the AB Marine Formula Honda boats racing at around 60 mph, or 96 km/h, motor sport and boating fans are assured of some great racing.

Stroll around the ‘pit’ area on Taupo’s Northcroft Reserve, in front of Suncourt Motor Hotel on Taupo’s main waterfront, before enjoying the race with great viewing from virtually all the Lake Front. Children’s entertainment is provided from 10:30 am, a Formula Honda celebrity sprint race takes place at 11:30 am with ‘Thunder on the Lake’ starting 1 pm.
