A FREE City Nippers “Have a Go Day” is again being offered by Surf Life Saving Northern Region to children aged 6 – 12 years. Kids can get in the water and have a bit of fun with the Lifeguards and they can see for themselves what our regular City Nippers courses provide. The session will be run as part of the opening ceremony for the World Junior Surfing Championships so there will be plenty of other fun activities going on too, such as face painting, a surf simulator, beach volleyball and balloon sculpting. At 12.15 there will be a sand castle building competition with awesome prizes provided by Quicksilver. So bring your togs, get your friends to come along and join in!
City Nippers courses allow kids who do not live near a surf beach to experience what it takes to become a Surf Lifeguard, while learning skills that a lay the foundation for a lifetime of family fun at the beach. The courses, run by qualified Surf Lifeguards, are fun as well as educational, teaching essential surf safety skills and helping to build confidence in the water. Children learn a range of skills including how to wade, duck dive under waves and boogie board.
