On a long summer weekend.. I'd like to get away from the buziness of the city and head on a road trip to a beach I've never been to with my closest friends and famiy, where we'd listen to reggae/ dub music along the way. It wouldn't be a kiwi summer with out a barbie(bbq) as the sun sets after which we'd guzzle it down with a drink of our choice and play with a pack of cards into the night. The next day we'd have a bacon and egg breakfast, check out the nearest town, head to the beach to catch some surf then cap off the weekend with some fish and chips for tea.

How we would love to go to something like this but being older people we don't have that sort of money any more. Got to it people.

What better way to spend the weekend than camping, tramping or anything else in the outdoors, but we often end up volunteering time tand resources to search and rescue, and helping out in the community

On a long summer weekend, i love to get out of Auckland - go camping or hire a bach with my best mates, it has to be near the beach (of course). We sleep late, then have a mean as b/fast cooked on the bbq, then lazy around in the sun, either at the beach or out fishing, reading magazines...all whilst a cold beer is at hand. When the sun starts to set we put on the mean NZ dub/regge tunes and crank up the bbq again, cooking the days catch...following this we hangout round a fire, someone has their guitar out and we usually play some random drinking game!! Then head off to bed, to do it all again the next day....also ideal if there is a gig on somewhere close by like Music Mountain or Leigh Sawmill :O)

On a long hot summer weekend I like to hang out with mates at the beach, have a swim, do some fishing and cook up a bbq and hopefully some smoked fish.

Enjoy the fresh northland air, fishing on the rocks or surfcasting off the each with mates. Having BBQ's and cold beers with family and friends while listening to kiwiana music, or even better seeing the New Zealand or local bands live. Swimming and Sunathing at the beach before getting cockels or pipis at the local beaches. The long weekend is all about living the last drops of summer.

As much as I can! Get together with family and go to the river or beach and have a BBQ. Go out and about with friends and have a few drinks. Have some time to relax and unwind.

I like to go for a kayak and / or boogie board at the beach, then come home and hook up the iPod with some good kiwi music, start up the bbq and have a few drinks with my friends. Repeat x3 days if you manage to get 3 days of sunshine in a row.

My summer weekend...would first mean getting out of the city, heading to the coast, id go away camping or to a beach front batch with those i love. Id fish or dive for fresh seafood and cook it everynight drinking great NZ wines, listen and feeling the ocean breeze with endless great food, drink, ocean, music and friends...the smell of summer skin and salt. Endless summer nights of laughter and company under candle light, walks on the beach...
come back refreshed, relaxed and at peace :)
