Synopsis: Belinda and Cody have been married nearly 20 years and seem to have it all – home, children, success. When a former classmate comes back to town and moves into their lives, the door opens for an examination of Belinda and Cody’s relationship – its basis, its past and its future. “This is How It Goes” is a fascinating study of relationships, race, and small town life.
Annie: Has been involved in theatre for the past twenty-odd years. She is currently Vice President of Dolphin Theatre and has been their senior stage manager and technical manager for many years. Annie previously directed “One Day At The Zoo” for Dolphin Theatre. She is an adjudicator for the Auckland Community Theatre Trust (ACTT) Showdown competition and the director of the annual Showdown Awards Night held at SkyCity Theatre.
Cast of Characters:
Man: 30-35, returning home for the first time in nearly 20 years. An ex lawyer, now pursuing a different career. Has always been in love with
Belinda: 30-35, married to Cody since high school. A wife and mother.
Cody: African American, married to Belinda. A dedicated athlete.
Waitress: Small non speaking role but integral to one scene of the play.
