Ports of Auckland is offering free guided boat tours of the Port and inner harbour during Auckland Anniversary Weekend 2010.
The 40-minute tours will run on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 January at 10am, 11am, 12pm and 1pm departing on a 360 Discovery ferry from Pier 4 on Quay Street.
The free educational tours showcase Auckland’s waterfront, working wharves and large ships.
The tours will include a detailed commentary about the Port and its shared history with Auckland city, and are suitable for all ages.
Bookings are essential and will be taken from Monday 11 January online at www.poal.co.nz or by calling 0800 AK PORT.
The free tours are being offered by Ports of Auckland as part of the Auckland Anniversary Weekend celebrations run by Auckland City Council.
Ports of Auckland will also be sponsoring the historic Oceanbridge Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta on Monday 1 February.
The 2010 Regatta will be the 170th that has been held in the city.
Regatta highlights include a tugboat parade, starting at the Viaduct Harbour at 9 am, followed by a popular favourite, the annual tugboat race.
