Goong Hee Fat Choy! Welcome to Wellington’s exciting celebrations for the Year of the Tiger.

The Sin Nian Tiger Party at Capital E kicks off the Chinese New Year celebrations where the young and young at heart try their hand at tiger-creating crafts – there’ll also be some party cake. Sunday 7 February – Capital E, Civic Square, 12–3pm, free

Fashionistas will have to check out New Clothes for the New Year – showcasing runway styles and dance. Saturday 13 February – Queens Wharf, under the sails, 1–3pm, free

Festival Day offers something for everyone – a bustling Asian market, a colourful street parade and lots of cultural entertainment.
