Frances Hodgkins: Kapiti Treasures reflects the special relationship that the Kapiti district has with New Zealand’s most famous and best-loved expatriate artist, Frances Hodgkins (1869-1947), through work gathered together for the first time from several significant private Kapiti collections.
Frances Hodgkins: Kapiti Treasures includes 30 paintings, drawings and lithographs spanning her development from an accomplished late 19th century genre painter, into a mature and unique artist fully engaged with European modernism. Part of the New Zealand International Arts Festival 2010
Opening on Saturday 27 February, 5pm with Special Guests, Her Worship the Mayor, Jenny Rowan, and Avenal McKinnon, Director of the New Zealand Portrait Gallery.

Mahara Gallery is located in Mahara Place, Waikanae, Kapiti Coast. Opposite the Waikanae Public Library and Waikanae Woolworths. Parking is available in the Woolworths carpark. Entry to the Gallery is free.
