Julie Mason and the Jazz Divas Jazzy Sunday Waiheke

Julie Mason and her Jazz Divas "Go Latino" on Waiheke as the first in a series of 10 Jazzy Sunday concerts in February, March and Easter Sunday and Monday on Waiheke Island.
The Divas will be supported during the afternoon by The Briar Ross Trio.

Following on from their highly successful tribute to The Great American Songbook, the Jazz Divas are back with a stunning new show. Featuring exciting Latin music from around the globe, these four talented singers will take you on a whirlwind tour of Brazil, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Cuba, Puerto Rico and many other exotic locales. The spirit of the samba, the romance of the bossa nova, the beautiful elegance of the bolero and the fire of the mambo and the rumba will transport you to another time and place.

Featuring their usual glorious four-part vocal harmonies, the Jazz Divas will sing arrangements of both well-known and lesser known songs by such Latin composers as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66, Osvaldo Farres, Jorge Ben and Chucho Valdes, along with works by jazz composers such as Chick Corea. Dizzy Gillespie and Horace Silver. Backed by their regular exciting rhythm section of Phil Broadhurst (piano), Olivier Holland (bass) and Jason Orme (drums), their Latin set will also feature the dynamic flute playing of Trudy Lile.
