A tour of the Waiheke Island you never knew existed!
There will be three performances of the new show "The Magic Rock", which has been devised by the wonderful students of Artworks Youth Theatre 2009-2010 with some help from Paolo Rotondo, Amber Curreen and Tainui Tukiwaho.
Waiheke Island — "The Rock" — comes to life under the imagination of these wonderful young storytellers and performers as they prepare to share with the audience the secrets of their magical Waiheke. Teeming with bizarre beings, charismatic creatures, sumptuous stories, warriors and weirdos, the audience will be taken on a tour of the Waiheke Island they never knew existed!
The students will be combining their natural talent with the various storytelling devices and performance techniques they have learnt over the programme to bring you this (sometimes scandalous!) story. With minimal special effects and staging, the audience will get a chance to see the students' unique creativity shine through.
So come along to one of the shows in the Theatre at Artworks, where imagination, storytelling and artistic endeavour find their home — and enter the enchanted Waiheke the kids have created over this summer.
