EkleKKtika aims to provide exceptional music by choosing different world class soloists from a pool of leading musicians who share a passion for music.
Established in 2004, with an inaugural series of concerts in Tauranga and Hamilton, EkleKKtika is supported by the Tauranga Performing Arts Trust. The group performs chamber music to audiences in the in upper North Island, with flexible instrumentation and number of players depending on the music being performed.
For this concert, David Adlam (Clarinet) is joined by special guest artists Simone Roggen (Violin) and Petya Mihneva (Piano)
New Zealander Simone Roggen has just completed studying with Giuliano Carmignola in his Soloist Class at Lucerne’s Conservatory of Music.Winner of the New Zealand National Chamber music Competition in 1997 and 1998, she was the first ever New Zealander to be accepted into the Thy Chamber-music Course in Denmark. As a soloist she has performed with the Auckland Philharmonic, Christchurch Symphony, and Auckland Youth Orchestra in New Zealand, the Biel Symphony and Lucerne Symphony Orchestras in Switzerland. In 2004 she completed her studies with Mary O’Brien at the University of Auckland with a Masters of Music, first class honors. In 2009 she completed (with distinction) the Soloist Diploma by performing as a soloist with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra in one of Europe’s best performance venues the Kultur und Kongresszentrum Luzern.
Petya Mihneva, from Bulgaria, graduated from the Music School "Hristina Morfova" and in 2001 won the Special prize at the International Competition "The Music and the Earth". She studied at the National Music Academy in Sofia until 2004, and three years later completed the Konzertdiplom at the Hochschule der Künste Bern, Switzerland in the class of Prof. Rada Petkova. In that time she has given numerous concerts as a soloist and chamber musician around Europe, and won 1st prize and special prize at the International Competition "Classic and Contemporaries." She has just completed with excellence, the Chambermusic Diploma at the Music Conservatory Zürich, in the class of Prof. Eckart Heiligers and is in high demand as a pianist, chamber musician and accompanist.
Together these two will perform Maurice Ravel's “Tzigane” and César Franck's Sonata for Violin.
The combined trio of players will perform Igor Stravinsky's “L'Histoire du Soldat” and Darius Milhaud's “Suite” for Violin, Clarinet and Piano.
Be beguiled by the sounds of this strongly French-inspired programme. Come and hear one of New Zealand's best young violinists in performance on this visit back to New Zealand.
