After a high-profile career as a fashion designer in Australia, Helen McFarlane retired to New Zealand where she studied social aspects of clothing at the University of Otago. Helen, currently Fashion Technology Tutor at Waiariki Institute of Technology, Rotorua, takes a peek at the dress of pioneer women, assessing their access to fashion, and the restrictions put on them by society of the day. The talk is timed to co-incide with Geyserland Glitz and Glamour on the World's Catwalks, which shows at Rotorua Museum until 21 February 2010.
